Just a few of my favorite things

Just a few of my favorite things

Okay, I know. There's more than a few. At some point, every lady reaches for a pair of earrings, skin care, makeup and hair products. Here's a few items I enjoy.

1. H&M Rose lily Dropped Earrings

Worn on my 35th birthday to signify new life and my favorite flower. Add pretty accessories to complete the outfit and you'll be sure to turn heads.

2. Peter Thomas Roth Rose Repair Gel Mask

Can you say love in a bottle? If skincare is top prority for you, then this product is a must-have. No matter your skin type, adding a soothing mask to your beauty regimen with antioxidant and anti-aging properties is a win.

3. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

I was slow on board the mascara train. Didn't really think much about it since my lashes are naturally long. Thats until a beloved friend of mine (you know who you are) suggested that I'd try Lash Stiletto. Once the power of mascara was discovered, gratitude for beauty took flight. When that brand began to disappear from the shelves of drug stores, I was in slight panic. Decided to move on to a higher end brand for about a year until I started evaluating an unneccessary splurging pattern. Speak Lord! For every tube purchased was the same as a full tank of petro. Scaling back on my beauty budget, I found my new true lash enhance love. The brush inside the products really does well with both volume and length. Dear Maybelline, Yes. She was gone for a minute, but now she's back and here to stay.

4. NARS Goulue Blush

Received this as a gift with purchase and I had no clue what hue the blush was by name alone. Once I realized it was rose golden blush, all I could do was smile. Blessings in any form are the best. A free 99 product such as this is indeed my kind of gift. Thanks Sephora.

5. Southern Beaute Christie Mink Lashes

When I tell you every single time I wear these lashes, people notice and ask if they are individual lashes (which is a nod in the beauty community acknowledging how naturally beautiful they look).

My reply: Nope, they are strip lashes.

Their response: Stunned.

Indeed heavy volume lashes have their place. However, its not flattering to wear lashes so heavy that you look like you have super powers and will fly like an eagle at any given moment. NO shade, just hear to shed some light. Experiment and grab some lashes that suits your eye shape, dramatic look for an event, or just your day to day wear.

I will break down lashes further in an upcoming post.

6. Fantasia Frizz Buster Silky Smooth Straightening Creme

Nature hair ladies know, all is not fair in haircare. Its something like war. Process of elimination at best can become wasteful, with a side of border line hoarding and strain on the pocketbook. If you don't know how often I switch up my hairstyles, feel free to browse my Instagram

I experiment quite often with new hairdos because I enjoy self-discovery and the fearlessness and freedom in trying new things. So now, my natural hair has been professionally cut, colored and straightened to achieve my current hairdo, "The Mushroom". In between salon visits, maintaining my hair is key. After I wash and blow dry my hair, I add a quarter size of what I call "creamy crack" to my hair and it does the trick. It really aids at attacking frizz while adding shine. When people ask me, "Are you still natural or did you chemically relax your hair?" Simply confirms that it works.
